Korina hopes to dodge politics
If she could have her way, broadcaster Korina Sanchez, who married vice presidential candidate Sen. Mar Roxas two days ago, Oct. 27, wants a life with her husband away from politics.
“I would be very happy to stay away from it...as much as possible,” said Korina on “TV Patrol World” on Oct. 28 in an interview held in their house in Cubao.
However, Korina stated that she could only fully support the senator’s political plans.
"Kung saan man niya ko kailanganin, hindi rin naman niya ako mapipigil tumulong at kung saan man niya ako ilagay, siyempre susunod naman ako sa kanya. Kung paano man ako makakatulong dito sa balak nilang gawin ni Noy (Aquino), nariyan ako,” she said.
This disproves speculations that their marriage is merely a political stratagem---especially for Mar who is just too happy to finally have Korina as his “Mrs. Roxas.”
“Kahit anuman ang tatahakin namin, kahit anong haharapin namin, basta magkasama kami, alam kong mahaharap namin. Ang buhay naman ay hindi parating smooth, may lubak din yan,” said he.
When Mar resumes campaigning with presidential candidate Sen. Noynoy Aquino, Korina will likewise return to work in the Sunday TV magazine show, “Rated K.”
"I don’t think I can do without work. I’m very happy that I will still have ‘Rated K’ every Sunday,” the ABS-CBN Chief Correspondent beamed.
Korina shrugged off “jealousy issues” that may arise in her marriage.
"Ako ang pinaka-hindi selosang babae sa balat ng lupa. Ako ‘yung tipong 'kung ayaw mo, huwag mo.’
“Pero ang maganda kay Mar kaya ko siya pinakasalan, ni minsan [ay] hindi pa niya ko binigyan ng dahilan para magselos. At sana huwag nang magkaroon,” she quipped.
Korina wishes for their marriage to last a lifetime.
“Sana kung anuman 'yong napakalalim at napakagandang nararamdaman namin ni Mar sa isa’t-isa, sana forever… hindi magbabago. May gusot man ay mapaplantsa ng init ng aming pagmamahalan,” said she.
Mar used the opportunity to thank all of their well-wishers.
“Talagang napakalaking bahagi po kayo ng aming pag-iisang-dibdib ni Korina. 'Yong inyong good wishes at inyong pagbati, damang-dama po namin. Maraming, maraming salamat po.”
The Roxas couple is set to fly to Japan on Thursday, Oct. 29, for their first honeymoon.
