Last week, John Lloyd Cruz held two press cons for two separate product endorsements – Biogesic and Adidas.

And in both press interviews, John Lloyd maintained his silence about the real goings-on in his lovelife. He requested that he maybe allowed not to answer questions about whether or not he and non-showbiz girlfriend Liz Uy have actually parted ways.

We sat down briefly with John Lloyd during the unveiling of Adidas’ newest celebrity endorsers at their flagship store in Greenbelt 3 in Makati last Friday. Shortly after he, along with Rayver Cruz, was welcomed by Nolet Puno, country manager of Adidas Philippines and Steven Mawdsley, Adidas senior manager. Maja Salvador and Karylle were also present during the formal launch of John Lloyd and Rayver as endorsers.

He said during the interview, “It’s very hard for a guy to be speaking about it at this time. I ask that I maybe given a little bit more time to keep quiet about it. Afterwards, when I am ready, I will then be able to talk about it at length and explain what really happened.”

We can only assume that the rest of us respected his decision as there were actually no news reports on John Lloyd’s lovelife.

John Lloyd says he is one guy who loves buying clothes, bags and shoes for himself. “Para akong babae ano?,” he said with a smile. That’s why his Adidas endorsement comes in very much welcome as this assures him brand new pairs of shoes every so often to add to his already huge shoes collection.

John Lloyd said he was supposed to do a movie with KC Concepcion next but for some reason, it will not push through. Another movie with Sarah Geronimo may not come in soon, as well.

John Lloyd is also one of those who was surprised at the amazing performance of his loveteam with Sarah Geronimo.

At first, he confessed, he had apprehensions about it, like most people. “But when we started shooting and gelling on the set, I already saw that something will really come out of it. Masaya kami sa set. And I guess that translated on the screen,” he said.

John Lloyd says he considers Sarah one of the sexiest actresses around in the sense that “she transforms whenever she is on stage. She seems to be a totally different person when the spotlight is on her. I find that sexy,” he said.

Sarah Geronimo is a breath of fresh air

Sarah Geronimo, as we always say, is one in the breed of young celebrities that we believe is a very good role model for the youth.

During the height of the Katrina Halili-Hayden Kho scandal, she held a press conference for the kick-off of her nationwide tour of “The Next One” concert and was naturally asked about it.

What Sarah responded to the relevant questions showed what is found in her heart and the convictions that she lives by.

Sarah said and we paraphrase, “For me, this is not about who is to blame – the one who took the videos or who released it to the public. The real issue for me is the lesson that premarital sex is really not something we should be engaging in.”

For a mother like us, what Sarah said is indeed a breath of fresh air. It gives us hope that even in the midst of the frenzy and permissiveness of the society, there are role models out there really worth emulating because they are not willing to compromise their purity just because everybody else does it.

Anyway, Sarah said in the same interview that she would welcome a guy who wants to court her, in her home, not outside of it.

She answered this after she had been bombarded with questions about who are her admirers today. “Wala po e,” was her modest answer. “Hindi po ako ligawin,” she added. “Siguro po kung liligaw sila, mas maganda kung pupunta sila sa bahay,” she said with a smile.

On rumors that her greatest admirer these days is Mark Herras, Sarah said smiling, “Wala naman pong sinasabi kahit nung magkasama kami sa Cam Sur for a concert.”

But Mark’s manager Lolit Solis said Mark was pleasantly intrigued by Sarah especially when she shook his hand, instead of the perennial show biz beso-beso, when they were first introduced.

Sarah’s concert tour will bring her to Lipa, Batangas on June 12; San Fernando, Pampanga on June 20; Dagupan City on June 26; Cagayan de Oro City on July 3; Bacolod City on July 17; Cebu City on July 31; Iloilo City on Aug. 21; Tacloban City on Aug. 28 and Davao City on Sept. 20.

When asked who her top three most handsome actors are, John Lloyd also figured in the list. But the two are not likely to be seen together in a movie anytime soon.
