Sarah, Charice to record together
MANILA, Philippines -- Talks have it that Boy Abunda will soon be Ladlad’s Party- List Congressional candidate in 2013’s national election.
If this is true, then we don’t see any reason why not? Boy has carved a credible background in and out of his public life.
In fact, if there is one showbiz personality who deserves to be in politics, it should be Boy. He is intelligent, well-read, well-educated, eloquent, pro-masses and has a heart for the rural probinsiyanos like him. Boy is mighty proud of his Waray roots.
A sensible person, his good sense of humor might just do the trick to make Congress better than it is today.
Epic series ‘Amaya’ comes to life with real tribal leaders
We recently witnessed tribal leaders in the fabled Mount Diwalwal of Mindanao’s gold mining area take center stage garbed in their colorful traditional costumes like a scene from GMA -7’s soon-to-be aired epic series “Amaya.”
A few years ago, Mt. Diwalwal has enchanted Hollywood actor Josh Hartnett when he came over to shoot a movie on location there. Unconfirmed reports have it that Josh’s heart was not just smitten by the beauty of the place, but also by the exotic charm of one lady native in Diwalwal.
Reputed to have Asia’s largest gold mining reserve, second only to South Africa but the natural resource, the area is yet to reach full potential because of the chaotic situation there due mainly to unorganized system among the small miners who all went up there in the now famous gold rush during the ’80s.
The event we witnessed was very interesting because for the first time in history, leaders of the four tribes in Monkayo, Compostela Valley came together to turn over a Unity Declaration: Peace and Development Covenant to the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples leadership. This agreement in turn awarded exclusive mandate to private company Jake Mining Corp. led by its president and CEO Eric Tagle to facilitate “Peaceful, environment-friendly and economically viable tourism and mining in Mindanao.”
Marian Rivera’s “Amaya” is about pre-colonial Philippine tribal life and culture. The event at Edsa Shangri-La last Friday had an uncanny resemblance to it as leaders from the four tribes of Monkayo, Compostela Valley – Mandaya, Manobo, Mangngaguan and Dibabawon even had to perform ceremonial rites of forging friendships with investors and symbolic cleansing of hearts to benefit their partnership.
Essentially, the turn-over ceremony signals a declaration of unity, peace, and allowing responsible mining in Diwalwal area led by Jake Mining Corp.
Sarah and Charice to record together
If reports that Sarah Geronimo and Charice Pempengco are doing a record together are true, we are one who aurally wish for it to happen.
It is definitely going to be a grand gesture for both, whose fans don’t necessarily want them to mingle because of past differences.
The project will show off the magnanimity of both artists, both being big stars in their own right.
They say that Viva Big boss Vic del Rosario is on top of the project after they got prompting from the camp of Charice.
Let’s wait and see.
