Golez to run for Congress
Deputy Presidential Spokesman and Press Undersecretary Anthony Golez Jr. on Friday resigned from the Arroyo government to join the congressional race in Bacolod next year.
Golez bade goodbye in his last press conference in the Palace where he announced his electoral plans under the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC).
He said serving as one of the President’s deputy spokespersons was one of the hardest jobs he had done in his life.
“I would like to say goodbye for the meantime to Malacanang Press Corps. This job is no joke. This is one of the most stressful jobs. I could not have carried out my duty if not for the good relations we had in the past two years answering your questions in so many issues hounding the country” he said.
“To be able to deliver the message of government is a challenge to everybody. Being spokesman is crucial in nation building because as spokesmen we try to unite the ideals, culture of people to be able effectively relay the real message,” he added.
Golez also thanked Press Secretary Cerge Remonde and the rest of the Palace officials and staff for the support they have given him in the last two years. “You are my true friends,” he said. (Genalyn Kabiling)
