BUTUAN CITY – An P8.5 million worth of television (TV) station project is set to rise in progressive land-locked province of Agusan del Sur, it was learned on Wednesday.

The brand new state-of-the-art modern TV facility will be set up at the Provincial Sport Complex, at the Government Center in Patin-ay, Prosperidad town of that same province.

While the 1,000-watt TV transmitter will be also erected at the peak of Mt. Magdiwata in nearby San Francisco town of that same province, it was also learned.

The station is expected to officially to go on air early next year.

It was gathered that the funding for the TV station project has been allocated by the Plaza Administration.

“I’m happy for the realization of the said project,” stressed former Gov. Valentina G. Plaza.

She recalled that her late husband, former governor and congressman Democrito O. Plaza wished to implement this project but it remained a dream for him.

Mrs. Plaza urged the 14 municipal mayors in the province to use the station for their monthly reports of their achievements to have transparency of governance.

“Now is the time that the people must know the affairs in their respective localities,” stressed the former governor.

Her son and daughter, Ma. Valentina Plaza and Rodolfo Plaza, are the incumbent governor and congressman, respectively, while her other son Eddie “Bong” Plaza was also the former governor of that same province.

Meanwhile, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was forged between the provincial government of Agusan del Sur and the People’s Television Network, Inc. (PTNI) in this city last week.

The historic signing was represented by Gov. Ma. Valentina Plaza of Agusan del Sur and for PTNI by Jose S. Isabilo, the network manager.

The MoA signing was witnessed by Press Secretary Cerge M. Remonde, which signals the operation of the TV broadcast and production center in that province.
