Philippine Postal Corporation celebrates its 111th Anniversary
The Philippine Postal Corporation (Philpost) celebrates its 111th anniversary today, November 9, 2009, with the theme “Philpost: Matatag na Kaagapay sa Lahat ng Panahon.” It will launch today several services that will strongly position the corporation in today’s highly competitive mail carrier and logistics industry.
One of these services is a new program offering money transfer/remittance service. Philpost’s newly set-up transfer system will be expanded to service another domestic and foreign clients.
Philpost will also launch the Unaddressed Advertising Mail Service (UAMS) which offers to distribute at a minimum cost advertising and promotion materials, such as, brochures, flyers, catalogues, sales letters, including product samples, to specific target areas in the country.
Philpost has entered into a joint-venture agreement with private companies to operate the Biometric Data Service Facilities nationwide which will serve the needs of prospective clients for verifiable and secure identification systems.
The celebration will also be highlighted by the recognition of three outstanding Philpost employees who will be honored for their efficiency, superior work ethic, and selfless devotion to duty. The long-awaited postal museum will be launched. This will be a repository of priceless stamps and precious artifacts from the Philippines and other countries. Letters by some heroes and popular personalities will also be seen in the museum.
In the last 111 years, the Philippine Postal Corporation has labored diligently to meet its four objectives, namely, the economical and speedy delivery of mail and other postal matters; the promotion of international exchange, cooperation, and understanding through exchange of postal matters between nations; offering a wide range of postal services to cater to the changing needs of the nation; and the generation of revenues to finance the overall cost of postal delivery and messengerial services.
We congratulate the Officials and Staff of the Philippine Postal Corporation led by Postmaster General Hector R.R. Villanueva and wish them success in all their endeavors.
