Malacañang is ready to replace Cabinet members who will leave their posts for their political interests to run in the May, 2010 elections.

Press Secretary Cerge Remonde said they have already identified new appointees to assume the posts vacated, including that of Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro Jr, but the list is not final for public consumption.

“Meron na kaming napagusapan pero hanggang sa maapoint natin, hindi pa final ‘yan(We have talked about replacements, but nothing is final). Handa na nating palitan ang mga Cabinet members na lalabas o aalis sa Cabinet(We are ready to replace Cabinet members who will leave the Cabinet),” he told government-run radio station DZRB.

Among the Cabinet secretaries who are on the list of possible senatorial bets running under the administration banner are Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, Cabinet Secretary Silvestre Bello III, and Finance Secretary Margarito Teves.

He said the public can expect new faces in the first Cabinet meeting in December. “They are not necessarily new, because as much as possible we’ll get within the ranks para hindi na kelangan ng adjustment so that there is no need for adjustments),” Remonde said.

He also pledged his timeless service to the administration until the President’s term expires in June, 2010. “I’ve decided to serve the President until the end of her term as press secretary or as she still wants me,” he said.
