The Philippine Patriots avenged their only loss to the Singapore Slingers last month, beating the visiting squad, 70-53, to claim their fourth win in five outings on Friday at The Arena in San Juan City.

Six-foot-five American import Brandon Powell led a spirited attack by the Philippine team to dominate the Slingers from the opening buzzer up until the final horn.

"We had two weeks to prepare for this game," Powell said during the post-game interview. "It's good that the other guys came out to play. We really played hard out there," he added, referring to the efforts of locals Froilan Baguion, Jerwin Gaco, and Elmer Espiritu.

Leading by 13 points at halftime, the Patriots never lost steam in the second half to sustain their momentum and surge ahead in the next two periods.

With the win, the Louie Alas-mentored Patriots improved to 4-1 (W-L), while handing the Slingers their first loss in five matches.
