Seminar on hope slated

November 4, 2009, 11:01am

Andy was 25 when he received the news that he was HIV-positive. The irony of it all was that he got infected because he donated blood to a charitable cause, and he had every opportunity to feel bitter. He realized that if he lived a healthful lifestyle he had a chance to stay symptom-free for years, but he was afraid of falling in love with anyone, because he knew if he got married he’d infect his bride with a deadly and devastating virus. Then he met the girl of his dreams and just knew, “If I don’t marry her she’ll get away forever.” Someone told him good news, gave him hope that he could be healed from HIV. And Andy believed. He took an HIV test, it was negative. To be sure, he took another, with the same results! Andy got healed from HIV, married his girl, and is now living another story.

Marvie’s son got diagnosed with leukemia when he was only 11 years old. Deeply frightened, she made sure he got the best care possible, and yet there was a time when he got sicker and sicker, and she had to face the reality that he might die. She wondered what it would do to her family, especially her son’s twin sister. Marvie too heard the good news that there was hope for her son. That was seven years ago. Today, he is a happy and healthy 18 year old, ready to go to college next year and has another story to tell!

Anna lived with anxiety, insecurity and depression all her life. She had seen what it did to her family, depression so heavy and menacing that it took the life of her grandfather. As a young girl, she dreaded the years ahead, wondering if she was destined to the same fate, and if the unbearable aching emptiness inside would ever be filled. Good news came and flooded her soul! Suddenly it was possible to get up in the morning and smile. Suddenly tomorrow was something to look forward to. She too has another story to tell.

Person after person has heard the good news of hope! Person after person has gotten healing for their bodies and souls. When they thought their lives were over — they opened up their hearts to hope — and found themselves with another story to tell!
