‘Tino’ weakens into LPA
All public warning storm signals were lifted in Northern and Central Luzon after tropical depression “Tino” weakened into a weather disturbance Tuesday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
“Tino has weakened into a low pressure area (LPA), however we raised gale warning advisory to coasts of North and Central Luzon because of rough sea conditions in the area,” PAGASA deputy director Nathaniel Cruz said.
PAGASA issued the advisory after weather forecasters spotted Tino along the Philippine Sea at about 120 kilometers north northeast of Casiguran in Aurora, expecting it to continue being in a weakening state in the next hours.
Cruz noted that the gale force winds left by Tino as it interacts with the Northeast monsoon could capsize small sea vessels, making it perilous for fishing boats to venture out into the sea particularly near the seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon. (Rio Rose Ribaya)
