DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan — Combined police and anti-narcotics agents here arrested suspected drug users and pushers during a raid in an alleged “shabu tiangge” (shabu flea market) in Sitio Aling, Pantal here recently.

The raid of the shabu tiangge, located very near a prestigious higher education institution in the province, was made possible with the help of parents and relatives of victims of drugs who had been patronizing the illegal drug den for several years now.

Chief Inspector Rogie de Vera, supervisor of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Pangasinan provincial office, identified the arrested suspects as David de Vera alias “Diokno,” Ronalyn de Vera alias Neneng, Roberto Ho alias “Berto,” Venus Laplano, Lydia Arzadon, Romulo Cacayuran, and Lailanie Callanta.

De Vera said confiscated from the shabu tiangge were over P50,000 worth of shabu, assorted drug paraphernalia, an unlicensed 9mm pistol, and various items.

He described the shabu tiangge to be a complete facility for the trade, considering there are individuals selling drug paraphernalia to those who have already bought shabu while there is a place where users could take in the illegal drugs for a fee of P20.
