There will only be a few new projects to be implemented in President Arroyo’s remaining term as the administration seeks to finish all projects by 2010.

Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Lorelei Fajardo, in a radio interview, said new projects before Arroyo’s term end in 2010 will consist of projects focusing on the economy and education, as the administration is targeting to finish all projects by 2010.

She said projects on the economy and education would be easy to implement unlike if there would be new projects on infrastructures, which would take time to finish.

“We’ll go back to the time element. We have restrictions because there’s a few months left before the term of the president ends,” she said.

She however assured that the president will be announcing good news that focus on education and the economy on her upcoming State-of-the-Nation Address (SoNA) this July 27.

There are still 37 projects yet to be finished under the Arroyo administration.

But Fajardo said Malacañang remains “positive” that all the projects will be done as President Arroyo’s term ends.

“We’re still hoping for the best,” Fajardo said, adding that “unavoidable circumstances” such as inclement weather and bidding process have delayed some of the projects.

“Umaasa kami (We’re hoping that) we’ll still have enough time,” she said.

Fajardo said that if ever there would be projects which will not be finished under the Arroyo administration, they are also hoping that the next administration would be able to continue with the projects and benefit the people.

“What is important is that the projects are in the pipeline and are ongoing,” she said.
