A different kind of English training

Training providers have mushroomed around the metro. In every business district there are at least 5 training providers looking to cash in on “Call Center Training.” The growth of the market is due to the explosion of call centers in the Philippines and us being tagged as the next “off shoring capital.” The government has invested billions of pesos into training for potentially qualified candidates to meet the insatiable demands of the BPO industry.

The usual training provided targets the “near hires” with the “finishing course for call center agents”, and the training program usually lasts anywhere from two weeks to a month of full time training.

What if you don’t have time to train?  What if you are still working; but are looking for a new career or vying to get promoted?  What if you’re not looking for call center training, but still need English enhancement?  What if you don’t have the budget to take an expensive English course?

Everyday English was developed to resolve these issues!  Other countries have been using online training as an affordable and effective way of training for years; but in the Philippines, it is not a very popular option.  Filipinos are more comfortable with training face to face or in a classroom setup.  Only now, with the new IT generation, is online training becoming more popular.

Online training has many advantages over regular classroom training.

Cost: Classroom training usually involves you traveling from office or home to the school to study. The cost of classroom training includes, the training itself, materials, transportation, and meal expenses; these costs can actually double the cost of the training. Through online training, all you need to pay for is the training itself, no miscellaneous costs.

Effective: In any group training, especially in language training, there will be certain individuals who will excel in the class. These are the students who are more participative, and more active in the class.  Majority of the students will not excel; because they will either be left behind, feel inferior, or lack interest in the training. Online training, especially when done live, helps to focus on the student individually. The lessons are personalized and the trainer can focus on each students unique set of needs, strengths and goals. Lesson correction is also immediate, this will eliminate enforcing mistakes and fast track improvement.

Privacy: In regular group training, you are scrutinized not just by your trainer, but by your peers as well.  This adds on to the fear of learning. Students are reluctant to participate because they do not want to be humiliated in front of their peers. In online training, lessons are one-on-one. Students will feel more secure with their answers, and will make them more participative, eventually speeding up the learning process.

Convenient: Online training brings the training to the student, no matter where they are:  whether in the office, at home or on the move*.  Online training eliminates transportation costs. Online training ends problems with scheduling, and long commutes, not to mention- getting stuck in traffic. You can have the training during your most convenient time; during your breaks, slow periods of the day or after hours.

Countries such as Korea, China, Japan, France, Germany, Italy and Russia - all have been using online training as their next best alternative for training.  Individuals use it for self improvement.  Corporations use it because it is affordable, convenient and effective. It is time - for the Philippines to consider the benefits of online training.
